There is a new promise around the development of the new Tembisa shopping centre, the Tembisa Mega Mart. The R240 million development will be ready for launch in August this year.
The sub Tembisa location hosting the development is Tswelapele Extension 6 Township.
This new promise emerges from an announcement released by JSE listed property group Delta Property Fund. Delta is set to by the Tembisa Mega Mart from the developer Realty Dynamix 107.
The community of Tembisa in the Ekurhuleni municipality has been waiting for the development after launch was set for last year.
The 14,600m² development in the township located about 20km east of Johannesburg propels the boom of new retail developments in previously marginalized areas, the historically black townships like Tembisa, Soweto, Alexandra and Umlazi. This trend has seen a train of developments, like the mega Maponya Mall, emerge in historically black townships across the country.
Yesterday’s announcement by Delta said Tembisa Mega Mart will come with 81% national tenants which include Pick ‘n Pay, Pep and Buildrite. Delta is acquiring the property on condition the development is set to be completed on 1 August 2014. Delta will take ownership of the property as from 1 September 2014.
